Raleigh Tops the List of Cities “Attracting Families”

A recent study conducted by Forbes.com has listed Raleigh as the number one city in America for attracting new families among the nation’s 52 largest metropolitan statistical areas. In conducting the study, data on the changes in the overall number of kids ages 5-14 were focused upon, as this range usually encompasses when a family makes the decision to relocate as they look at issues including the quality of schools, economic security, and housing costs. It was also noted that Raleigh’s strong economy makes it a more attractive destinations for families to relocate to than most. Backing up the top ranking additionally was the growth in the number of children in the aforementioned age range in Raleigh between the years of 2000-2013, which went up by 63,600 children or 55.7 percent. That figure is about ten times the national growth rate in this age range, which is only 0.5 percent.
