Taking a look at 572 of the largest cities across the entire country in reaching their final Top 10 list in which Cary sits as the Number One Boomtown in the US, Smart Asset blog writer, Amanda Dixon explained that there were five specific metrics used in compiling their final data for this study. According to Dixon, the factors looked at in naming Cary the Number One Boomtown in the US were the unemployment rate, GDP growth rate, the growth of the housing market, annual change in employment figures, and the rate of residents moving into versus those moving away from the municipalities studied nationwide.
Moving along in the article, Dixon specifically speaks to Cary topping the list of the Number One Boomtown in the US, noting, “Cary is one of the largest municipalities in the state of North Carolina. Its part of the Raleigh-Cary metro area, which has more than 1.2 million residents.” She continued, “A number of universities surround the region, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. That’s why Cary, along with Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill is part of an area known as the Research Triangle.”
