Raleigh Among the “Coolest” in the Country

With countless entertainment options, a wide variety of great local food, and its vast cultural mix of people, Raleigh was recently ranked in the top twenty of Forbes.com’s ranking of “America’s Coolest Cities.” Basing its final listing after analyzing the 60 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas and Metropolitan Divisions in six different areas, Raleigh was one of just six East Coast cities to break the “Coolest Cities” top twenty. The detail ranking’s system saw Forbes team with Sperling’s BestPlaces to calculate the different options in entertainment in each city looked at per capita. Forbes writer, Erin Carlyle, further explained the selection process of the “coolest U.S. cities,” saying, “This metric essentially measures ways you might spend a Saturday, quantifying the availability of professional and college sports events, zoos and aquariums, golf courses, ski areas, and National parks, among others.
